Open Board Positions

Election 2019

Apopka Raptors will vote on the following positions:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Director of Cheer
  • Recording Secretary

The Board will make an appointment for the following positions:

  • Fundraising Coordinator
  • Interim Director of Football
  • Interim Treasurer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must be a member in good standing (fees paid and no code of conduct violations)
  • Must attend all board meeting, year-round (Jan- Dec)
  • Must be willing to stay the entire day (setup-breakdown) for all home games

**Experience preferred but not required.**

If you would like to help make a difference, please submit a letter of interest that includes your experience (if any), how you have helped the organization and how you plan to contribute to the success of the organization. Letter of interest should be submitted by Saturday, November 2nd.

Position Descriptions:

President/Commissioner. The President/Commissioner shall:

  • Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of President/Commissioner or may be assigned by the Executive Board.
  • Conduct the affairs of APOPKA RAPTORS and execute the policies established by the Executive Board.
  • Present a report of the condition of APOPKA RAPTORS at the annual meeting.
  • Communicate to the Executive Board, such matters as deemed appropriate, and make such suggestions as may tend to promote the welfare of APOPKA RAPTORS.
  • Designate in writing other officers who have power to make and execute for/and in the name of APOPKA RAPTORS such contracts and leases they may receive and which have had prior approval of the Board, if necessary.
  • Investigate complaints, irregularities and conditions detrimental to APOPKA RAPTORS and report therein to the Executive Board, as circumstances warrant.
  • Coordinate with the Treasurer, prepare and submit an annual budget to the Executive Board and be responsible for the proper execution thereof.
  • With the assistance of the Director of Football, examine the application and support of proof-of-age and any other required documents of every football participant candidate and certify to residence and age eligibility before the participant may be accepted.
  • With the assistance of the Director of Cheerleading, examine the application and support of proof-of-age and any other required documents of every cheerleading participant candidate and certify to residence and age eligibility before the participant may be accepted.
  • Be responsible for the Scholastic Committee. Be a member of the Finance, Home Game, Publicity, Event and Scholarship Committees.
  • Countersign all checks with the Treasurer, if able.
  • Attend all APOPKA RAPTORS meetings and FYFCL meetings.

 

Secretary. The Secretary shall:

Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Secretary or may be assigned by the Executive Board.

  • Be responsible for recording and preserving meeting minutes in a book.
  • Send a draft copy of the minutes to the Executive Board within 72 hours of the last Board Meeting. As necessary, file a corrected copy of the minutes of each meeting in the Secretary's book.
  • Record the activities of APOPKA RAPTORS and maintain appropriate files, mailing lists and necessary records.
  • Coordinate Insurance through the National AAU Office Coordinate all required AAU Memberships for Executive Board, Coaches and Participants.
  • Be responsible under the Vice President for coordinating the Registration Committee.
  • Maintain a list of all Regular, Sustaining and Honorary Members and Committee members and give notice of all meetings of the APOPKA RAPTORS Executive Board and Committees.
  • Conduct all correspondence not otherwise specifically delegated in connection with said meeting and shall be responsible for carrying out all orders, votes and resolutions not otherwise committed.
  • Coordinate the First Aid/CPR Certification, Registration and Banquets.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Football or Cheer and the Treasurer the Coaches and Team Mom applications for certification. i.e. background checks/fingerprints.
  • Attend all APOPKA RAPTORS Board Meetings.

 

Treasurer. The Treasurer shall:

  • Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Treasurer or may be assigned by the Executive Board.
  • Receive all monies and securities, and deposit it in the depository approved by the Executive Board within 72 hours of receipt.
  • Keep records for the receipt and disbursement of all monies and securities, approve all payments from allotted funds and draw checks therefore in agreement with policies established in advance of such actions by the Executive Board. All disbursements by checks must have dual signatures. The signatures will be those of the Treasurer, President and/or Vice President.
  • Be the Budget Committee Chairperson under the direction of the President and Executive Board and prepare budgets for Football and Cheerleading for submission to the Executive Board and the Membership at the Annual Meeting.
  • Prepare an annual financial report, under the direction of the President, for submission to the Executive Board and the Membership at the Annual Meeting.
  • Act as the Purchasing Agent for APOPKA RAPTORS.
  • Coordinate and file financial statements with all local, state and federal revenue departments as required.
  • Coordinate Grants as needed.
  • Coordinate the By Laws with the Executive Board.
  • Coordinate the Team Moms.
  • Work with the Secretary and Team Moms to ensure payments, proper paperwork and teambooks.
  • Coordinate with the Secretary the Coaches and Team Mom applications for certification.i.e. backgroundchecks/fingerprints.
  • Attend all APOPKA RAPTORS Board Meetings

 

Director of Cheerleading. The Director of Cheerleading shall:

Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Director of Cheerleading or may be assigned by the Executive Board.

  • Be a member of the Budget Committee.
  • Interview and investigate prospective coaches for appointment and subsequent approval by the Executive Board for the six (6) different Cheer Divisions. Review Assistant Coach nominees.
  • Conduct the participant registration(s) and certification.
  • Outline a recruitment strategy.
  • Appoint an Assistant.
  • Receive and review applications for participant candidates and assist the President in checking age eligibility for Cheer Participants.
  • Hold Cheer Coaches Meetings and coordinate Continuing Education.
  • Be responsible for Coordinating Cheer uniforms and equipment, and present findings to the Executive Board for discussion. Attend all APOPKA RAPTORS Board Meetings and all Mid Florida Cheer Meetings.

 

 

 

Director of Football. The Director of Football shall:

Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Director of Football or may be assigned by the Executive Board.

  • Be a member of the Budget Committee.
  • Interview and investigate prospective coaches for appointment and subsequent approval by the Executive Board for the five (5) different Football Divisions. Review Assistant Coach nominees.
  • Conduct the participant registration(s) and certification.
  • Outline a recruitment strategy.
  • Appoint an Assistant
  • Receive and review applications for participant candidates and assist the President in checking age eligibility for football participants.
  • Implement a Football Program (All Teams).
  • Hold coaches' meetings.
  • Conduct Coaches training in football and rules that govern APOPKA RAPTORS and AAU/FYFCL play.
  • Be responsible for Coordinating with the Equipment Manager.
  • Attend all APOPKA RAPTORS Board Meetings.

 

 

Fundraising Coordinator. The Fundraising Coordinator shall:

Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Fundraising Coordinator or may be assigned by the Executive Board

  • Coordinate all fundraising activities, including individual and corporate donations, sponsorships for participants, and corporate volunteer matching programs.
  • Coordinate co-fundraising events.
  • Develop and establish, with board approval, an annual fundraising plan.
  • Participate in annual budget planning, focusing specifically on costs related to fundraising.
  • Administer events designed to raise money for the program.
  • Coordinate with sponsors to obtain logos for Apopka Raptor's website.
  • Reach out to local businesses to solicit financial support for Apopka Raptors.
  • Reach out to the community to solicit donations and sponsorships.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the fundraising efforts and identifies methods of enhancing fundraising activities for next year.

 

Recording Secretary. The Recording Secretary Shall:

Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth and such duties as are customarily incident to the Office of Recording Secretary or may be assigned by the Executive Board

  • Responsible for performing clerical and/or record keeping tasks
  • Send a draft copy of the minutes to the Executive Board within 72 hours of the last Board Meeting. As necessary, file a corrected copy of the minutes of each meeting in the Secretary's book
  • Work closely with the Secretary to assist with keeping accurate.
  • Be responsible for recording and preserving meeting minutes in a book
  • Notify Committee Chairs and Members of their election or appointment.
  • Make a directory of current Executive Board, important dates and other Association information.
  • Work with the Treasurer and Team Moms to ensure payments, proper paperwork and team books for Participants.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
